This extremely small zinc die casting is produced on one of Del Mar's multi-slide high speed die casting machines at rates fast enough to produce 5000+ parts per shift. This component measures .5" in diameter and only .75" in length, with a weight of .13 oz. Intricate features on the part cannot be seen clearly with this photo, so suffice to say that this component is demanding in its part design and in its dimensional tolerances, as well as having an extremely demanding weight tolerance. After casting, the only operation performed is a chromate conversion coating; otherwise the part is shipped and used as-cast. This part illustrates a perfect example for using the advantages of multi-slide die casting machines. It has a high quantity usage, it is small with a low volume of metal, and it has complex features with tight tolerances.
