The key to die casting is the rapid production of parts with high quality surface finish at an economical cost. Add to that the rugged strength to frustrate the efforts of a would-be intruder and you have the perfect application for zinc die casting in the manufacturing of door levers. Then, throw in the requirement of versatility and zinc die casting stands alone for purposes of manufacturing door levers. How do we define versatility when it comes to door levers? If you need keyed levers, an insert is added in the die to allow for the insertion of a key plug in the lever, there by allowing the lever to be locked. Remove the insert and you have a smooth, unbroken finish for an unlocked door. Other keying combinations are possible with use of the same cavity. Quality surface finish levers may be plated with the usual chrome, brass, bronze and other finishes. Parts for use of PVD, the lifetime guarantee coating, is a specialty of Del Mar. Where some operations have as high as 40% fall-out after PVD application, Del Mar currently runs about 2%.
