Advantages of Die Casting
In terms of high volume production,
die casting is superior to all
other casting processes. Although
initial tooling costs may be higher,
die cast parts can be produced
very quickly, resulting in low
part costs. Since the injection
of molten metal is done under
high pressure, thin walls and
complex part geometries can be
achieved as-cast, producing net
shape parts that require little
or no secondary machining.
Below
is just a partial list of some
of the advantages that die casting
is able to offer you:
- Ability
to cast a multitude of part
shapes and complexities
- Consistent
tolerance repeatability from
part to part
- As-cast
tolerances as close as .001
inch
- Superior
surface finish compared to other
casting processes
- Variety
of as-cast surface finishes
– from smooth to textured
- Ability
to cast thin walls which can
reduce part weight
